Children's Ministry

“We will ... tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and other wonders that he has done…. so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments”  Psalms 78:4,7

Our Children's Ministry (also known as "Grace Kids") is one reflection of how we value children as a vital part of our community.

What is offered for Children during Sunday Worship Services?

We encourage the presence of children in every aspect of our worship service. We recognize, however, that many parents of infants and toddlers prefer to have childcare assistance during worship and most young children benefit from some age-appropriate teaching.  In order to enrich the worship experience for both children and parents we provide nursery for children birth through 2 years and an instructional time for children 3 years through 4th grade.

On Sundays, children will begin worship with their families (the nursery will be available during the entire service) and then are dismissed prior to the sermon to a kid-friendly children’s church.  After the main worship service ends, parents pick up their children and are invited to gather with the whole church for refreshments and fellowship.

Information for Visitors:

Please accompany your children downstairs at dismissal and one of our volunteers or the Children’s Ministry Director will be there to point you in the right direction. At this time, we will discuss any important information such as allergies or special needs, and help you to fill out a name tag for your child (you will receive a matching tag to present upon pick-up).

Ministry to Children with Special Needs:

"Disability is a normal part of life in an abnormal world." - Stephanie Hubach, Same Lake, Different Boat

Our church desires to welcome all children and families, including those who are impacted by disability. We recognize each person to be made in the image of God, and thus to be worthy of dignity, honor and respect (Gen. 1:27).

Our church is equipped with an exterior elevator to help with transition between the upper and lower levels of the building. We will also be ready to welcome your child with a one-on-one classroom buddy during kids church, if desired.

We want to help your family integrate into our congregation, so please don't hesitate to reach out to the Children's Ministry Director, Kaity Troy, with any specific questions or concerns.

Child Safety & Wellness:

All of our regular volunteers have been CORI checked, received classroom training, and have undergone MinistrySafe’s Sexual Abuse Awareness Training. Our Child Protection Policy can be found here.

For the well-being of all children and volunteers, we ask that children temporarily refrain from participating in children’s church if they’ve experienced any of the following symptoms in the past 24 hours:

  • Fever
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Any symptom of childhood diseases such as scarlet fever, German measles, mumps, chicken pox, or whooping cough
  • Sore throat
  • Croup
  • Any unexplained rash or any skin infection – boils, ringworm, impetigo
  • Pink eye or other eye infection
  • Thick green, yellow or constant nasal discharge
  • Any communicable disease

If you would like more information or want to learn about getting involved, please do not hesitate to contact our Children's Ministry Director Kaity Troy.
